The days are longer and the flowers are starting to bloom, yes, it’s Spring! With that said, it’s finally the time of year to start sprucing up your home in preparation for warm weather activities. Now that the Winter weather has passed, you’ll want to take inventory of your home and look for any damages so that you can make the necessary repairs. Checking for repairs is crucial in addition to any “beauty” work around the house. Follow this Spring maintenance list to make sure your home is in top notch condition this year!

Clean the Gutters

No one looks forward to the possibility of water damage, especially during warmer temperatures. Making sure gutters are cleared of debris and leaks will save you some trouble in the future.

Clean and/or Replace Air Filters

Yes, this should be done more than just once a year. Doing this before you gear up to use your A/C system is very important because dirty filters may cause your system to work harder than it has to. Blasting your system can burn a big hole in your pocket!

Paint Touch Ups

Going over chipped or cracked paint helps your home look nice and well kept. Not only is this a super easy home maintenance trick, it can also serve as a protective barrier from the elements.

Inspect Your Roof

The roof is such an important foundational part of your home. Inspect your roof shingles to make sure none have been lost or damaged due to the Winter months. Also be sure to perform a thorough cleaning.

Inspect Driveways and Concrete

Freezing and thawing can take a big toll on concrete and asphalt. Make sure to do a walk through of your driveway, walkways, and paths around your home to check for cracks and weather damages.

Check Screen Doors and Windows

Screened in doors, windows, and patios can only do their jobs if they are hole and tear free. Make sure to check around your house for any holes and tears and repair them no matter how small they may be. Repair kits can be found at most local hardware stores.
