This month we take a look at the food scene of our friends to the west. Suffolk, you might have the best concentration of amazing, award winning restaurants. How did you guys get so lucky, and why doesn’t everyone know about all of these places? We rounded up some popular spots with a little input from folks we know. Whether you already live in Suffolk, or just want to explore some of the best food around, put these places on your “must try” list!
1601 Bridge Road | Suffolk, VA 23433
O’doodleDoo’s specialize in hand crafted and hand decorated donuts. Open from 5 am to 2 pm everyday, they run a good mix of traditional and innovative flavors. So while you can probably get a beautifully frosted chocolate donut, you might also be able to try the Elvis, a peanut butter, banana, bacon donut. Get there early, cause once they sell out for the day, they’re done.
1900 Governors Pointe Drive | Suffolk, VA 23436
This award-winning restaurant is committed to “Seasonally Southern” fare using the very best ingredients all while honoring the history of southern food. Don’t miss the open kitchen, outdoor dining, or dessert and drinks by the fire pit. Vintage Tavern is hands down one of the best restaurants in Hampton Roads, so treat yourself to an evening here!
The Plaid Turnip
115 N. Main Street | Suffolk, VA 23434
This restaurant focuses on comfort food with a twist. Known for their top-notch customer service and fun, relaxed atmosphere, you are sure to find an elevated version of your favorite classic American dish here. We’ve heard their breakfast is the best around- so don’t be afraid to get up early and find out what all the buzz is about.
8032 Harbor View Boulevard | Suffolk, VA 23435
We say this is the go-to spot for fine dining, especially with foodies. Steaks, seafood, a raw bar, and seasonal salads and sides mean the menu is exciting and they have a wine list to match. If you have a special event to celebrate, you can’t do better than this!
122 N Main Street | Suffolk, VA 23434
Vintage style industrial atmosphere and a deep respect for family and food create a delicious dinner spot that cannot be skipped over. Fun, creative, Southern food that will blow you away (hello pork belly biscuits) with warm service and a great atmosphere. Don’t be surprised if this becomes your new favorite spot.
