Sometimes the biggest goals we have for ourselves seem like the most unachievable. They’re more like dreams that could come true in another lifetime, but not something we expect to actualize in the next 5, 10, or 20 years. And because the idea is so lofty, it’s daunting to even put a plan into motion. Where would you even start?

Let’s say your dream is to own your very own home. The idea of never having to change your address again is liberating, isn’t it? Nevermind the fact that you’d be building equity to further solidify other goals. But where would you start? What’s the first step?

We often bring in industry experts to offer insights into the real estate market for our Associates. On a recent visit, Mark Given, a prominent real estate speaker

Isn’t this time of year inspiring? The days are a little longer, the weather is warming up just enough to remind us that winter is almost over, and the sun is beaming through our windows. The sun beaming through our windows also politely reminds us that it’s time to do a little spring cleaning, too - the window streaks are more visible and somehow the junk drawer got out of control since winter. Before you dive into some good old fashioned spring cleaning, we have a few tips for you!

Make a plan. You’ve got the cleaning gloves and eye protection ready, but first you need a plan! Tackling each room one at a time will maximize your efforts, too. I would vote to start with whichever room stresses you out the most - maybe the craft room? The garage? By the

Have you ever thought of the expression ‘cream of the crop’? It’s a commonly used phrase that was probably borrowed from the French ‘la creme de la creme,’ the cream of the cream, the best of the best. The Circle of Excellence(SM) is much like that. It’s an annual awards program recognizing the association's top-producing REALTORS® in various categories all across Hampton Roads.

Technically speaking, to qualify for COE the amount of gross commission income or number of units sold are the main factors, but to The Real Estate Group, it’s about service. We believe in truly taking care of our clients and carrying them through the process well beyond the closing table. When you’re dedicated to real estate, a part of TREG, qualified for COE, what you’re

Nine times out of 10, if there’s a fire truck in your neighborhood, there is cause for alarm. But when it’s that remaining 10% chance and Edmarc is involved, it’s time to hug your family a little tighter and smile.

A fire truck escorting a big bus into a neighborhood is the last phase of the Movies With Santa operation. After all the toys are generously donated, they are packed up and brought to Edmarc. Edmarc then goes and separates the toys by each family’s wish list, plans the routes to deliver all the toys, and more importantly, aims to bring a little Christmas joy to these families who are dealing with so, so much.

The planning and coordination to get this accomplished is impressive, especially because it involves over 60 stops.

There are a ton of reasons why you might want to get up bright and early on a Saturday. Perhaps to put up the Christmas lights on your home, hit the road to go hiking, but to see a movie? That’s exactly what over 2,200 people did on Saturday, December 1st.

The Real Estate Group took over Regal Cinemas 12 in Town Center all in the name of supporting Edmarc Hospice for Children. Our agents invited their clients and their families to come by and take some photos with Santa or Mrs. Claus, and to see a free movie. In exchange, everyone was asked to bring an unwrapped toy for the kids of Edmarc.

The lobby was filled with our agents helping to direct traffic, and they came dressed for the part whether it be an ugly sweater or full out elf gear. We also had

If you’ve been curious about what we’ve been up to, we have a lot to tell you about! Just like most people experience, everything kicks into high gear right around the holidays. At The Real Estate Group, though, we really hit a running streak in September and that wave continues through the New Year. We jump started things with David Knox, really dove into goal setting in October, November was all about gratitude, and we closed out the month with Holidays in the City.

At our November Business Meeting, gratitude was the theme and it permeated the office. Have you ever thought about all benefits of gratitude? Well, here’s a running list to inspire you!

  1. Opens the door to more relationships

  2. Improves physical health

  3. Improves

It’s no secret that we invest a lot of time and training into our agents here at The Real Estate Group, and one of the best classes of the year is our Goal Setting class taught in October. We consider the fourth quarter of the year to be somewhat of our agents’ New Year, and whether you’re a buyer or a seller there are measurable benefits.

For example, looking to sell your home towards the end of the year? Having the right negotiating skills to properly handle your equity is crucial. Maybe you’re looking to buy? The opportunities don’t usually just jump off the page; it takes a REALTOR ® who is more knowledgeable about real estate trends to analyze the market and better counsel you on the right time to buy.

To really help our agents kick off

If you’re in the market to buy or sell your home, chances are you know a thing or two about what’s happening in the economy. At The Real Estate Group, market trends are wildly important to us, and we empower our agents with this information at our Market Matters class held routinely throughout the year.

To take this knowledge to the next level, we had a special guest speaker at our October business meeting. Chief Economist Greg Grootendorst delivered a fantastic presentation and sorted the information first from a global perspective and filtered it all the way down to our regional market.

Among the pages and pages of notes and ideas we took away from his presentation, we learned some interesting facts. For example, did you know that what happens

Fall in Hampton Roads is arguably the best season. The humidity starts to drop a bit and there are so many fun things to do outside in the perfect 78-degree temps. Us locals really get to enjoy our less crowded beaches, and there are still just as many festivals as there were in the summer. It’s a win-win all around!

The season is also perfect to prep your home for the colder months ahead. Though it will be hard to break yourself away from the pumpkin patch, spend a weekend taking care of your home now versus later - it will be well worth your time and energy, and potentially save you from headaches next season. Here are 6 ways to jump-start the process:

  1. Clean your gutters. Whether you’re using a kid’s plastic shovel or a $25 scoop from
