Once you’ve moved into your new home, you have to decide how far you want to go with the little details to make it YOUR home. One possible bonus to adding architectural details later is you decide when each project is done, so that it works for your schedule and finances.

As Adrienne Breaux of ApartmentTherapy.com said, “Nothing jump-starts design envy more than walking into a home with stunning architectural details like interesting ceilings, textured walls, charming stained glass and more. Don't despair if you don't have any built-in architectural details in your home; there are some ideas you can try that just might give your space a similar feel as those bursting with architectural character and charm.”

The terms, “tenant” and, “occupant” aren’t interchangeable when leasing property, as each has a different standing in a rental transaction.

Tenants sign a contract containing terms that bind them to certain obligations under the lease. The lease agreement is between the landlord and tenant only.

Occupants are authorized to reside in the property with the landlord’s permission. Occupants do not have financial responsibility for the lease, nor are they entitled to tenant’s rights that might be afforded under the law.

Some of the aspects of these differences come into play are:

Approval

The landlord has the ability to approve or deny “occupant” status for adults that will occupy their rental property. Children and other dependents not

The thought of a 20 percent down payment for a newly constructed home shouldn’t make you uncomfortable if you're getting ready to buy. If you’re an American veteran, a current active duty military member, a reservist, or a surviving, non-remarried spouse of someone in the military, you may be able to obtain a loan from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for your new home, which will help you purchase it without a down payment.

The VA doesn’t originate loans but sets the rules for who may qualify, issues minimum guidelines and requirements under which mortgages may be offered and financially guarantees loans that qualify under the program.

“There’s also no minimum credit score requirement…Available to millions of veterans and active military

Once again, The Real Estate Group, its associates and their families participated in the 2017 Grand Illumination Parade in Downtown Norfolk this last Saturday. As anyone that’s lived in Norfolk during this time of year, the Grand Illumination Parade and the lighting of the buildings mark the start of the local holiday season.

This year, TREG again had the honor of walking the Blue Angels balloon in the 33rd annual parade, and the crowd response was fantastic. The love for the military community was alive and well with all the bundled up families cheering, clapping, and waving from the sidewalks as the giant blue jet was expertly guided by our very own agents, staff members and their family members.

For more than 30 years, families have gathered

A number of factors affect how quickly property rents, including:

  • Location
  • Price
  • Time of year
  • Condition
  • Flexibility of terms
  • Number of rentals on the market
  • Pool of available qualified renters

“Location, Location, Location…” It’s a mantra in the real estate industry and often the largest factor in how quickly property rents. Property location is the one thing you can’t do anything about, so a less desired location will usually trump all other factors for prospective applicants. If your property is far from businesses because you hoped to, “get away from it all,” it won’t appeal to those who would have a long commute to work.

More desirable locations command higher rents. Increased demand means a better selection of

One of the most important aspects of purchasing a newly constructed home is choosing the neighborhood. Whether you’re looking for a luxury condo, villa or waterfront home, the East Beach community of Norfolk is one community you should consider for your next home. It’s one community that continues to flourish.

The area, nestled between the Chesapeake Bay and Pretty Lake, was revitalized in the 1990’s, turning 100 acres into prime real estate, with Atlantic Coastal-style villages. Today, the area’s growth is ongoing, with new homes in various stages of construction.

In fact, there are two waterfront options to choose from in East Beach: the Chesapeake Bay and the Little Creek Channel. The houses in East Beach are clustered around bayside greens

Thanksgiving is about being thankful for your family and friends. That thankfulness is even better when you're able to spend the holiday with them. But sometimes, because of work schedules, the cost to travel or even the distance from home, not everyone can spend the holidays with their families. This concept isn’t new to our local military members.

To make up for their possible lack of family, many service members celebrate, “Friendsgiving.” The term is popular among people, like them, who celebrate the holiday with friends instead of family.

Here in Hampton Roads, we have every branch of the military represented. How many of us know someone in the military, with whom we’re already friends? If you have the space for an extra person or two at your

Did you know Norfolk is home to its very own automobile reality television show on the Velocity Channel? You’ve probably even driven past the facility, near Old Dominion University and not given the simple-looking building a second thought.

DRS Automotive FantomWorks, or just “FantomWorks,” as the Velocity channel calls it, can provide any part or service for your classic automobile, or even that full restoration for which you’ve been saving! The shop opened in 2006, and the show started in 2013. Short’s shop was “discovered" by Nicolas Valcours of New Dominion Pictures, who brought Peter Rees, the creator of “Myth Busters,” and the show was ultimately picked up by Discovery Velocity.

“I fell in love with my first car when I was 5. I was born in
