Are you ready for 2017? No matter the answer, there are many ways to welcome the New Year in Hampton Roads. And while there are always a ton of parties geared towards adults, we’ve noticed a fun trend in “Noon Year’s Eve, “ festivities aimed at celebrating with family and including the kids in a way that doesn’t deprive anyone of sleep!

Countdown to 2017 at the Virginia Aquarium 

December 31 from 11am-1pm

Children and adults get ready for the New Year! Head over to the Virginia Aquarium for contests, games, activities and treats in the Marsh Pavilion. Free with admission to the Aquarium.

Christmas is so very close and despite a warm up this weekend, it is so very cold! Have a little indoor fun in the days leading up to Christmas with these fun apps and websites!

1. NORAD Tracks Santa

Scope out the Santa Tracker Countdown until the man in red goes live on NORAD’s famous website. They play great music on this site, and you and the kids can explore Santa’s Village before he makes his yearly flight around the world. Learn about the history of NORAD, listen to Santa’s favorite songs, and learn about Christmas traditions all over the world! Free and also available on mobile apps.

We had another fantastic event with our recent “Movies with Santa” in support of Edmarc Hospice for Children. On Saturday, December 3, TREG elves woke up extra early to prepare Columbus Regal Cinema for a ton of friends and families. They set up chairs for Santa and Mrs. Claus, made sure there were plenty of snacks and treats on hand, and waited patiently for all the guests to arrive.

And arrive they did! Everyone brought gifts for Edmarc Hospice and enjoyed telling Santa what they wanted for Christmas. After their pictures, there were treats to be enjoyed and movies to watch!

When we stop to think about it, we are all so lucky to live in a beautiful coastal community, and many of us are so fortunate with an abundance of good things in our lives like a safe roof over our heads and a place to celebrate this holiday season with friends and family.

We were inspired to share this small list of charitable organizations because we have seen so much posted online about giving back. Nothing makes us feel the warm fuzzies like seeing all of our friends and agents finding ways to give back!
