Last weekend the entire Mid-Atlantic battened the hatches and made it through Winter Storm Jonas. While Hampton Roads didn't bear the brunt of the storm (or the snow) it was a weekend spent at home for most. Do yourself, and the family, a favor this weekend and make it a point to get out and play. Looking for something fun to do? Don't worry, we've got you covered. From a chance to meet Chesapeake Chuck, our resident groundhog, to a night of stargazing, to an opportunity to try some new restaurants in Smithfield and Isle of Wight, we've rounded up activities for the indoors and out. Hope everyone has a fun and safe weekend!

Dear Annie,

My New Year’s Resolution this year is to stop renting and buy my first home. I have some savings but don’t know where to start. Any suggestions?

Dear Hopeful,

A New Year is an excellent opportunity to review things that are working in your life and make changes to things that aren’t. Buying a house is a great resolution and goal to set for 2016. If you’ve looked at your living situation and feel like it is time to make the change from renting to buying, there is a very simple way to get the process started. Call a REALTOR®.

There are many ways to find a REALTOR® and the chances are good that you know one already. If you don’t have one in your social circle, ask around. A
