About the Area
Fort Story (now known as Joint Expeditionary Base East) is a sub-installation of the United States Navy and Little Creek Amphibious Base. Located in the beautiful city of Virginia Beach, Virginia on the Chesapeake Bay, the base has a unique combination of enticing features. Across the 1,451 acres you will find grassy dunes, sandy trails, cypress swamps, sandy beaches, rocky cliff side beaches, maritime forest, open land, and even the Cape Hatteras Light House.
Fort Story is the prime location and training environment for both Army amphibious operations and Joint Logistics-Over-the-Shore (LOTS) training events and the scenery creates an enjoyable atmosphere for those long PT hours.
Support Information for Fort Story
Fort Story offers many support services for families relocating with their service member. There is a The local Fleet & Family Support Centers can provide information on things to do in the area, local transportation, base and city maps, and even air mattresses, tables and chairs, and pots and pans. The FFSC also has a school liaison officer on board who can coordinate school services as well as provide assistance for those with special needs. There are many choices for both public and private education.
