Energy Saving Tip #2 - Saving Money & Energy On Your Holiday Light Display

I know we just had Halloween and recovering from all the sugar shock from the candy.  However, as I am shopping there are already holiday decorations and even Christmas trees displays out already.  Time to start preparing for all of your holiday plans for 2011.

Here are a few tips on how you can possibly save up to 50% on your energy bill during the holiday season.

1.  Switch to LED lights compared to incadescent holiday lights

  • LED lights last longer ( roughly 20,000 hours - enough for 40 holiday seasons)
  • LED lights are cooler which will reduce the risk of fire and injury
  • LED lights can save 90% or more energy compared to incandescent holiday lights
  • LED lights use less power and safer to connect multiple strings of LED lamps without overloading wall socket
2.  Use an automatic timer for your lights to avoid accidentally leaving your lights on and running up your electircity bill accidentally.
3.  Washing the dishes by hand can use half as much water as a dishwaher.  And it can be a great way to gather everyone together in the kitchen while being cost-effective.
Have a Energy Aware Holiday Season!
